However, detailed orbital-scale terrestrial environmental responses to this notable global climate transition remain poorly known. This dataset provides paleomagnetic data and paleoclimatic proxy data from the Eocene–Oligocene red beds in the Lanzhou Basin, NE Tibetan Plateau. Paleomagnetic data (including declination, inclination, VGP latitude and MAD) in this dataset can be used to build the chronology of the section. Besides, low field magnetic susceptibility (χlf), frequency-dependent magnetic susceptibility (χfd), saturation isothermal remanent magnetization (SIRM), hard isothermal remanent magnetization (HIRM), mean grain size, Chemical index of alteration (CIA) and K2O/Al2O3 ratio are present, which were used to reconstruct the hydroclimate history of the Lanzhou Basin. These records suggest a sharp hydroclimate transition at ~33.7 Ma from eccentricity dominated cycles to oscillations paced by a combination of eccentricity, obliquity, and precession, and confirm that major Asian aridification and cooling occurred at EOT, which we relate to both atmospheric CO2 decline and continental-scale Antarctic glaciation.\nTo obtain paleomangetic data, stepwise thermal demagnetization of the natural remanent magnetization (NRM) was conducted using a TD-48 thermal demagnetizer, and measured with a 2-G Enterprises Model 755-R cryogenic magnetometer housed in a magnetically shielded space. Low-frequency magnetic susceptibility (χlf) and high-frequency magnetic susceptibility (χhf) were measured with a Bartington Instruments MS2 magnetic susceptibility meter. Frequency-dependent magnetic susceptibility (χfd = χlf − χhf) was calculated. Saturation isothermal remanent magnetization (SIRM) and hard isothermal remanent magnetization (HIRM) were measured with an AGICO JR-6A dual-speed spinner magnetometer after imparted with an impulse magnetizer (model IM-10-30). Above magnetic measurements were conducted away from magnetic materials to ensure the data quality.\nElemental analyses were performed with an Axios advanced wavelength dispersive X-ray fluorescence instrument (WD-XRF; PANalytical, Ea Almelo, The Netherlands). Relative standard deviations from repeated analyses of the National Standard GSS-8 and GSD-12 were below 2% for all major elements. Grain sizes analyses were conducted after removal of organic matter by 10% H2O2 and carbonate by 10% HCl, and measured using a Malvern 2000 laser instrument.","doi":"10.11888/Paleoenv.tpdc.270909","projection":"","language":"en","share_type":"online","east":104.0,"west":103.0,"south":36.0,"north":37.0,"scale":null,"crs":null,"filesize":0.16,"share_policy":"a","ts_created":"2020-09-02T19:28:33.156580+08:00","doi_type":"拥有自主知识产权","ts_updated":"2021-04-18T19:24:39.067945+08:00","time_description":"31-35.6 Ma","datas_group":2,"time_description_en":"","data_format":null,"project":[11],"specials":[],"cite":null,"review_status":5,"review_invite":[{"user_name":"颜茂都","username":"颜茂都","email":"maoduyan@itpcas.ac.cn","is_cancel_expert":true}],"review_editor":{"id":42421,"last_login":"2022-04-08T15:16:51.670544+08:00","username":"任慧霞","email":"510727846@qq.com","is_active":true,"is_staff":true,"user_name":"任慧霞"},"data_sources":null,"temporal_resolution":"1000 year < x","spatial_resolution":"1km - 10km","license":"Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike 4.0 International (CC BY-NC-SA 4.0)","fund":[344,345,346],"subtopics":{"metadata":"e3d2b9e4-53d9-4b49-8d9a-9c3d5a7b458c","three_pole":null,"third_pole":null},"username":"zhangpeng","review_time":null,"protected_duration":6,"protected_describe":null,"is_important":false,"hit_count":423}
